The ‘Mopar Road Ready’ program recently finished its third stop on its 2015 tour at the Mopar World Headquarters in Center Line, Michigan, where more than 190 teen drivers learned invaluable on-road lessons in driving safety.
Over the course of four sold-out sessions, teens and their parents were taught techniques in defensive driving, on-road safety, and accident-avoidance skills. The teens, ages 15-19, are required to have a learner’s permit or driver’s license, along with a minimum of 30 hours driving experience. The course begins with an in-class session, where participating teens review basic driving topics, followed by advanced behind-the-wheel training which covers distraction, accident avoidance, wheel drop, panic stop, and wet skid pad skills.
The ‘Mopar Road Ready’ program has already made stops in Pomona, California, and Gainesville, Florida this year, educating more than 700 participants. Due to high demand for the course, more than 200 hopefuls were placed on a waiting-list for the Center Line, Michigan courses, which filled up a week in advance.
“We are extremely pleased by the overwhelming community participation,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO – Mopar Brand Service, Parts and Customer Care, FCA in a statement. “Car accidents are the number one cause of death among teenagers, and this program provides young drivers — and parents — the chance to learn hands-on, highly valuable skills behind the wheel that can hopefully help them avoid an accident or even save their lives.”
