Coronet CDJR thought we’d write about the top Adam West moments. West, who was the star of the television series Batman, recently passed away this year. Also a voice actor for The Fairly OddParents, The Simpsons, and Family Guy, West became a popular actor reaching across generational lines.
Perhaps one of the most striking Batman moments, according to TIME, was West’s first appearance in the pilot episode of Batman. In Season One Episode One, West performed a Batusi dance—based on a groovy dance popular during the sixties—that signaled to the audience that this version of the Caped Crusader wasn’t quite the dark version we see elsewhere. West was known for his comedic roles, and the pilot episode of Batman is a good example of his memorable personality.
In Episode 20 of the first season of Batman, West stunned fans by battling with one of Catwoman’s tigers. After Batman is lured into a battle with Catwoman, with whom he has a complex relationship, he quickly struggles for his life with one of her ferocious jungle cats. Few actors can say they’ve fought a tiger, making this a unique moment in West’s career.
Finally, West made an impression on fans in the 1966 film Batman: The Movie, when he fought villains in a tuxedo. In a James Bond-inspired scene, billionaire Bruce Wayne, the man behind the mask, has to battle henchmen and gets a chance to show off his impressive hand-to-hand combat. Demonstrating the versatility of West’s acting abilities, this film inspired many later versions of Batman, including Tim Burton’s and Christopher Nolan’s iterations.
It’s difficult to narrow down our favorite Adam West moments, but there are tons of clips you can see online to show you just how quirky West’s character was. We’re truly sad to see such an iconic television star go.
