The Active Lifestyle Vehicle Competition, a yearly event held by Carspondent.com to determine the best “active lifestyle vehicles,” took place late last month at San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona.
This year’s ALV Competition awards Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep’s popular and super advanced mid-size off-roader, two titles, including the Luxury Off-Road Award. This award is given to the best SUV with “true off-road capability” and with an MSRP of at least $35,000.
The Grand Cherokee also won the Inaugural Phoenix Automotive Press Association (PAPA) Best of the Southwest Award. PAPA members give out a special award each year to the ALV finalist they feel best suits driving in the southwest desert landscape. PAPA judges appreciated the Grand Cherokee’s interior and excellent drivability, which “make it an ideal all-around SUV for daily driving and vacation fun.”
Members of PAPA and other members of the media in Phoenix and the surrounding area spent the first day of the competition evaluating vehicles, and on the second day local enthusiasts were allowed to come and test drive the vehicles and give further input on the best ones.
