Jeeps are indeed the kind of vehicle that can inspire a child’s imagination. And for a lot of those kids, they never lose the dream.
Mario Palmisano was one of those kids. Mario lost his father when he was young and ended up spending a lot of time with his uncle Johnny. Mario’s uncle had a green SUV at the time, and though Mario adored it, he asked his uncle if one day he could buy Mario a “real” SUV. By that, he meant a Jeep, of course.
Uncle Johnny agreed but only if Mario graduated college. They put together a contract and signed it. You can see a picture of the contract here.
According to Johnny, Mario became concerned that his uncle could use a loophole in the contract and buy him a Matchbook Jeep. To prevent this, Mario added “real and full size, expensive” as a sidebar to the contract.
Mario recently graduated from the University of Chicago and joined Teach for America in San Francisco. Uncle Johnny made good on the offer and bought Mario that Jeep he promised him so many years ago, making Mario’s story one of the best Jeep stories ever!
